Omer Shorshi
ICE taught me how to understand the science of the culinary business.
Biography
Omer Shorshi was a paramedic in the Israeli army and worked on a kibbutz before coming to New York City in the late 90s. He worked as a technician on security systems before coming to ICE to study how to open his own restaurant. Now he is the owner of Pommes Frites restaurant in the East Village and Friteshop.com, an online specialty supply store. Pommes Frites has become celebrated for their authentic Belgian fries, including recognition from the New York Post, Daily News, New York Times, Food Network and more. Shorshi valued his time at ICE not only for the in-class lessons but also the chance to interact with people who have the same love and passion for the culinary industry. He says his favorite part of his job is seeing the pleasure in my customers when they are eating my creations. I wake up in the morning thinking about how I can make this business the best it can be!
